The trial began at 10:00AM with opening arguments by the prosecution. Then followed the opening arguments of the defense. The prosecuting attorney called the Rev. Dr. Jane Adams Spahr as his first witness, then Ms. JoAnn Runyon, former interim clerk of the Presbytery. Following Ms. Runyon's testimony, the defense called its witnesses. Thursday's proceedings ended at approximately 4:00PM and the trial was continued to 10:00AM Friday, March 3rd. The room was awash in media and observers.
